- $68 million CAD in Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) investments in B.C., and $345 million across Canada, will enhance Canada's aerospace sector.
ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia, Aug. 8, 2025 — Boeing recently increased its investments in Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) across Canada, strengthening its long-standing partnership with the country's aerospace industry. At the Abbotsford International Airshow, Boeing showcased its commitment to British Columbia's aerospace and defence sector and $345 million CAD in ITB investments as a result of Canada's selection of the P-8A Poseidon aircraft for its long-range Multi-Mission Aircraft needs.
Among the key investments announced over the past year are:
- $61 million CAD in British Columbia aerospace enterprises, supporting Boeing Vancouver and COTA Aviation, which is enhancing local capabilities and contributing to the province's aerospace ecosystem.
- $17.48 million CAD in the production of sustainable aviation fuel, including $7.48 million in a Dimensional Energy project in Richmond, B.C. that converts industrial CO2 emissions into synthetic aviation fuel.
- $240 million CAD in Québec aerospace innovation, which includes collaborations with Wisk Aero, Héroux-Devtek, and the Aerospace Development Centre in the newly established Québec Espace Aéro Innovation Zone. This investment is driving technological advancements and fostering innovation in the aerospace sector.
- $17 million CAD in Indigenous education through a partnership with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT), expanding the Saskatchewan Aviation Learning Centre to double the output of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in the province. This investment plays a crucial role in addressing the labour market shortage in the global aerospace industry.
- $10.3 million CAD in Solace Power, a Newfoundland-based tech company developing advanced wireless power, sensing, and data solutions for aerospace, telecom, automotive, and other high-growth sectors, while fostering local innovation.
"Boeing's ITB investments in Canada reflect our commitment to fostering innovation and supporting local communities," said Al Meinzinger, President of Boeing Canada. "With 106 years of history in Canada and 500 suppliers spanning every province, we are proud to partner with Canadian organizations and invest in initiatives that will have a lasting impact on the aerospace industry and the communities we serve."
Boeing has successfully completed on or ahead of schedule more than $15.5 billion CAD in ITB programs over the last 40 years. This long history of partnership has not only strengthened Boeing's operations in Canada but has also contributed to the growth of the Canadian aerospace industry, creating jobs and driving economic development in communities across the country.
“Boeing’s $13 million CAD investment under the P-8 ITB program has been transformative for COTA Aviation,” said Kyle Kusznieryk, CEO of BC-based COTA Aviation. “With their support, we’ve been able to strategically acquire advanced manufacturing equipment that expands both our capacity and technical capabilities. This has directly enabled us to take on new aerospace and defence production programs and launch a recruitment campaign to support our continued growth.”
The Government of Canada’s selection of the P-8A as its Multi-Mission Aircraft brings significant economic benefits to Canadian organizations nationwide. Currently, 81 Boeing suppliers across Canada support P-8A production, with each of the 170+ P-8A aircraft in operation globally containing over $11 million CAD worth of Canadian content. To date, Boeing has awarded over $2 billion CAD in P-8 contracts to Canadian companies.
“Boeing’s ITB investments are advancing Canada’s position as a hub for cutting-edge innovation and a leader in the global aerospace sector," said the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions. "These strategic investments will drive industry growth while contributing to economic development and creating high-paying jobs in communities across the country.”
Boeing’s Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft ITB Program serves as a catalyst for launching the next generation of collaboration between Boeing and Canadian industry by deepening existing strategic partnerships and creating new opportunities to deliver value for decades to come. According to an independent study by Ottawa-based Doyletech Corporation, the P-8A ITB Program will support approximately 3,000 jobs and add $358 million to Canada's economy every year for the next 10 years, benefiting over 260 companies across the country.
