- Industrial and Technological Benefits accelerating advanced manufacturing, R&D and supplier growth from coast to coast
OTTAWA, Ontario – May 26, 2026 – Boeing’s presence at CANSEC 2026, Canada’s leading defence, security and emerging technology event, will focus on partnerships and investments made by the company in Canada. Since 2024, Boeing has announced over $400 million CAD in Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) investments in the country, delivering project funding and supplier opportunities that benefit Canadian companies across the provinces. These investments stem from Canada's selection of the CP8A Poseidon aircraft for its long-range Multi-Mission Aircraft needs.
“Boeing’s investments under the CP8A ITB program are about more than dollars – they are about people, skills and communities,” said Al Meinzinger, President of Boeing Canada. “From St. John’s to Vancouver, our partnerships with Canadian industry are strengthening the domestic aerospace base and this is reflected in our participation at this year’s CANSEC show.”
Key investments made across eight provinces include:
- $36 million CAD supporting aerospace manufacturing R&D at Boeing’s Winnipeg site, including partnership with the National Research Council of Canada.
- $247 million CAD in Québec aerospace innovation, which includes collaborations with Wisk Aero, Héroux-Devtek, and the Aerospace Development Centre in Québec’s Espace Aéro Innovation Zone, with additional funding committed to Aéro Montréal’s MACH Services program. These investments are driving technological advancements and fostering innovation in the aerospace sector.
- $61 million CAD in British Columbia aerospace enterprises, supporting Boeing Vancouver and COTA Aviation, which is enhancing local capabilities and contributing to the province's aerospace ecosystem.
- $7 million CAD in Vac Aero International Inc., a Canadian aerospace and defence supplier with sites in Ontario and Québec, to purchase new heat treatment capabilities.
- $17.48 million CAD in the production of sustainable aviation fuel, to companies in Québec and British Columbia.
- $17 million CAD in Indigenous education through a partnership with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, expanding the Saskatchewan Aviation Learning Centre to double the output of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in the province.
- $10.3 million CAD in Solace Power, a Newfoundland-based tech company developing advanced wireless power, sensing, and data solutions for aerospace, telecom, automotive, and other high-growth sectors.
- $2.7 million CAD in Alberta-based ConvergX to accelerate aerospace innovation.
- $3.9 million CAD in KF Aerospace to certify the world’s first Boeing 737-800 Combi conversion, helping to enhance essential air service for northern communities.
- $1.4 million CAD in Nova Scotia’s Bluedrop Training and Simulation to advance capabilities for Boeing’s CV-22 trainer program.
Collectively, Boeing’s CP8A ITB program is supporting Canada’s aerospace ecosystem by deepening supplier partnerships, expanding R&D and skills development, and creating long‑term opportunities across the country. Independent analysis estimates the CP8A ITB program is supporting approximately 3,000 jobs and adding about $358 million CAD to Canada’s economy annually for the 10‑year ITB period, benefiting more than 260 Canadian companies.
