The Boeing Winnipeg manufacturing facility has been a key player in the local aerospace industry and community since it was established in 1971. Starting with a modest workforce of 57 employees, the facility initially focused on manufacturing composite parts for the 747 airplane program. Over time, it has grown to become Canada’s largest aerospace composite manufacturing plant, employing approximately 1,500 team members in various manufacturing and engineering roles and other support functions.
With a commitment to excellence and innovation, the Boeing Winnipeg team produces hundreds of parts and assemblies for all in-production Boeing commercial airplanes. As part of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Fabrication organization, it serves as a crucial backstop to Boeing’s supply base.
Among the notable parts manufactured in Winnipeg are the acoustic inner barrel for the 737 MAX and the main landing gear doors for the 787 Dreamliner. These complex and lightweight composite components contribute to the operational efficiency of the airplane.
Boeing Winnipeg’s impact extends beyond its immediate operations. Playing a vital role in the local economy through its extensive supplier network and community giving strategy, the team actively contributes to local organizations that promote STEM education, support Veterans and address other prevailing community needs.
